Duplicate title

It is possible to obtain a duplicate of your vehicle title if the original title is lost, stolen or damaged. To request a duplicate, pay a replacement fee, and provide documentation of identity and ownership of the vehicle. California DMV usually issues the new title within a few days of receiving the application. It is important to note that the original title can be reused if found later, but the replacement title cannot be refunded.
